Two Legendary Jets; One Great Airshow
MiG-17 and TA-4J Skyhawk join the Florida International Air Show, November 7–8 at Punta Gorda Airport
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — September 25, 2026 — Two aircraft with distinct places in aviation history are joining the 2026 Florida International Air Show. Bill Culberson will pilot a MiG-17, and Rick Sharpe will pilot a TA-4J Skyhawk. Both pilots are with FighterJets, Inc. The show takes place Saturday and Sunday, November 7–8, at Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, the MiG-17 became known for its maneuverability and saw combat over Vietnam. Its swept wings and compact shape make it instantly recognizable to aviation enthusiasts. Culberson’s appearance gives Southwest Florida audiences a chance to see this historic fighter in flight.
The TA-4J is a two-seat training version of the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. The Skyhawk served as a U.S. Navy and Marine Corps attack aircraft and later became familiar to air show audiences through the Blue Angels, who flew A-4s from 1974 to 1986. With Sharpe at the controls, the TA-4J brings another chapter of jet aviation history to the Punta Gorda flightline.
“The MiG-17 and TA-4J Skyhawk each have a remarkable story. Seeing them fly at Punta Gorda gives our guests the sound and excitement of two legendary jets, along with a chance to share aviation history with the next generation.” Denise Dull, President, Florida International Air Show stated.
The weekend’s additional attractions include aerobatic performances by Aarron Deliu, Red Bull athlete Kevin Coleman and Franklin Flying Circus; a demonstration by The Chuters Jump Team; and Precision Exotics. Guests can also explore static aircraft displays, the STEM Innovator’s Pavilion, food vendors, exhibitors and family activities.
Gates open at 9 a.m. on both days. Tickets are on sale at floridaairshow.com/tickets. Guests should select the day they plan to attend; tickets are valid only for the date purchased. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine.
