Healing Field of Honor This Veterans Day holiday, November 2026, the beautiful grounds of Laishley Park in Punta Gorda will be transformed into a breathtaking sea of American and Canadian flags, flying solemnly in honor of those who have served and sacrificed. The Healing Field of Honor is a powerful community tribute to our heroes. Each flag represents a story, a life, a sacrifice, or someone who has made a difference in the lives of others. You can dedicate a flag in honor or memory of anyone who has touched your life—a military member who gave their life for America, a veteran, an active-duty service member, a first responder, a healthcare worker, a family member, or a hometown hero. Each flag serves as a lasting symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and love. Visitors are invited to take a peaceful walk among the rows of flags, reflect on the stories behind them, and experience the awe-inspiring panorama created by hundreds of flags moving together in the breeze. It is a place for remembrance, reflection, healing, and gratitude—a place where our community can come together to honor those who have given so much. An Evening of Remembrance Each evening at 5:30 p.m., visitors are invited to pause among the flags as Taps is played in solemn tribute. The sound of Taps drifting across the field creates a deeply moving moment to remember those who served, those who sacrificed, and those who continue to protect our freedoms. The Wall As part of this meaningful experience, visitors will also have the opportunity to reflect at The Wall, inscribed with the names of more than 58,300 service members who gave their lives or remain missing during the Vietnam War. Walking alongside The Wall and through the field of flags offers a powerful opportunity to remember the cost of service and to honor the men and women whose names—and whose stories—must never be forgotten.
