THE MAGIC OF MUSIC
The Charlotte County Concert Band, under the direction of Bob Miller, presents “The Magic of Music” at 7:30 PM on Friday, April 1st in the Charlotte Performing Arts Center at Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda. Music can inspire! Music can bring joy! Music can bring excitement! We hope you will come to hear the Charlotte County Concert Band as they bring their concert season to a close with a wide variety of magical sounds.
The band opens their concert with “All Glory Told” by James Swearingen. This piece is dedicated to all teachers, who by their very nature, possess the unique opportunity and responsibility to be positive role models for the thousands of students whose lives they touch. You will not want to miss a magical twist on the American folk song “Turkey in the Straw.” There will be a selection entitled “Trumpets Ole!” that will feature the entire trumpet section as they play this rousing Spanish piece. Our principal trumpeter, Dennis Johnson, will perform the ever-popular “Star Dust” on his flugelhorn.
Who doesn’t enjoy the music of Leroy Anderson and Marvin Hamlisch? The band will perform “Serenata” and “A Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch” during the second half of the concert. You will be treated to a memorable moment from the silver screen as the band performs selections from “Mary Poppins.” The concert will conclude with a very exciting overture to the opera “Zampa.” It will be a magical evening of music as the Charlotte County Concert Band performs their final concert of the season.
