Charlotte Players News Release: Swingtime Canteen-Musical

The Charlotte Players proudly presents the lively musical revue Swingtime Canteen at the historic Langdon Playhouse from April 16 through May 3, 2026. Written by Linda Thorsen Bond, William Repicci, and Charles Busch, this nostalgic and spirited production transports audiences back to the 1940s, when music lifted spirits and brought people together during wartime. Packed with beloved classics from the big band and swing era, Swingtime Canteen celebrates the music, humor, and heartfelt camaraderie that kept morale high both at home and overseas.

This energetic production is directed by Marie Brown and Mary Crawford, with scenic design by Ron Bates, bringing the charm and excitement of a USO-style canteen performance to life on the Langdon Playhouse stage. Audiences will enjoy an evening filled with lively choreography, patriotic spirit, and timeless songs that defined a generation, as performers recreate the feel of entertainers traveling across the country to support American troops during World War II.

Performances are held Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $36 for adults and $18 for students.
