Discover Your Family History at Free Family History Discovery Day
PORT CHARLOTTE, FL — The Charlotte County Genealogical Society, Inc. (CCGSI) is partnering with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to present Family History Discovery Day on Saturday, August 15, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The free event will be held at the LDS Church, 1303 Forrest Nelson Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL.
Whether you are just beginning to explore your family history or have been researching your ancestors for years, everyone is welcome to attend this afternoon of discovery and learning. No registration is required, and light refreshments will be served.
The program will opedn with our keynote speaker, Ray Liberatore, speaking on “Walking Where They Walked: Discovering Family History in Italy ” followed by several educational sessions. Attendees may choose to attend one or more sessions, including:

  • Getting the Most from Your Family Tree
  • Finding Your Ancestors in Historical Records
  • Using Artificial Intelligence to Discover Your Family History
  • Finding Hidden Records with AI and Full Text Search
An open lab will also be available. Volunteers will help participants get started on their family tree, create an account at FamilySearch.org , and  offer tips on adding to and improving an existing family tree.
Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop and their own family tree to make the most of the hands-on opportunities.
Family History Discovery Day is a great opportunity to learn more about your ancestors, discover new research tools and resources, and connect with others who share an interest in family history.
