ShorePoint Medical Group Welcomes New Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeon

James Takara, M.D. has joined the medical staff of ShorePoint Medical Group. Dr. Takara is a cardiovascular thoracic surgeon who is board certified in both cardiovascular surgery and thoracic surgery.

A cardiovascular thoracic (or cardiothoracic) surgeon performs surgery on the heart, lungs and other parts of the chest. Surgeries can range from heart valve repair or replacement to robotic lung surgery. Cardiothoracic surgeons have extensive training and can specialize in other areas as well.

Dr. Takara graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA. He completed residency at State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY and at University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA. Dr. Takara also did his fellowship at University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN.
