On November 18, we’re throwing one too, and you get to write the guest list.
Living With AI begins with a story the New York Times reported this fall. At a dinner for tech founders and investors, their AI agents met in an online chat room for a parallel party, introducing themselves, trading favors, and complaining about email. One of them later told its owner it was the best half hour of its job.
In the first session, George Rogers will tell the story and then try it at a smaller scale. Attendees will describe a few dinner guests in the Zoom chat, with their quirks and opinions, and George will give each one to an AI and let them mingle. Nobody knows quite how it will go, which is part of the fun. Afterward we’ll talk about what happened, and about why it’s so hard not to describe these programs as if they were people.
No reading or prior AI experience is needed. This isn’t a debate about whether AI is good or bad. It’s already in our lives, and this series looks at some of the strange and surprising things it’s doing and what we’d want from it. If you enjoy it, come back for the next one.
Wednesday, November 18, 3 to 4 p.m. Eastern, on Zoom. Free.
